Are you planning to visit the Antwerp Cathedral of Our Lady? See our information below!

Information:

Standing on Groenplaats, you cannot avoid the Antwerp Cathedral of Our Lady (Onze Lieve Vrouwe Kathedraal), this magnificent cathedral standing in the heart of Antwerp. The cathedral’s tower is listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, but the rest of the building is also beautiful. The distinctive tower used to serve as a watchtower, which also housed a fire watch. These, with the help of a large storm bell, could warn the people in case of a fire.

Construction of the Cathedral began in 1352, but over the years it was unfortunately damaged several times, so the cathedral was not completed until 1521, with valuable works of art being lost. Don’t let this stop you, be sure to visit the Antwerp Cathedral of Our Lady as both the exterior and interior are beautiful.
