Wat Arun

Wat Arun Temple, Bangkok

Planning to visit Wat Arun? See our information below!

Information:

Wat Arun Temple is one of the most famous temples in Bangkok and is named after Aruna, the God of dawn. The temple is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, across from the Grand Palace. The temple is 82 metres high and the tower is covered with ceramic tiles and coloured porcelain. When the sun shines, this gives the temple a beautiful glow, which makes for a pretty picture.

To reach the top of Wat Arun Temple, you have to climb quite a steep staircase and takes some time, but once at the top, you have a brilliant view of the river and, with clear weather, even the Grand Palace. Therefore, a visit to this temple is well worth the many steps.

Opening hours:

The temple is open every day from 08:30 AM to 05:30 PM and can be reached by ferry.
