The complex is one of the oldest in the city, built in 1782, making it one of Bangkok’s main historical attractions. The Royal Palace was the former residence of the king. Today, the palace is only used for ceremonies and ceremonies on public holidays. On the grounds of the Grand Palace, be enchanted by the gold-rimmed roofs, the huge elephant statues and the beautiful garden.

Also on the grounds of the Grand Palace is the Wat Phra Kaew temple, Thailand’s most important Buddhist temple. The Wat Phra Kaew, consists of countless precious stones and mosaic tiles, making the temple look stunning. The golden decorations and beautiful statues are a treat for your camera.

Before you plan to visit the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, make sure your shoulders and knees are well covered. Otherwise, you will not enter the grounds!

  • Go as early as possible to get slightly ahead of the heat and crowds. In the middle of the day, it is really crowded and you would rather not be here.
  • Watch out for possible scammers outside the palace, you only pay the entrance fee if you actually go inside. So don’t be fooled otherwise.
