🇮🇩 Pura Tanah Lot Temple

Pura Tanah Lot Temple

Planning to visit Pura Tanah Lot Temple? See our information below!

Information:

A popular place to watch the sunset, Bali’s Pura Tanah Lot Temple is one of the most iconic sights in the whole country. It is a mysterious-looking ancient shrine on a rock near the coast of Bali, and at high tide the temple appears to float on the sea. At low tide, you can cross over to the base of the rock to view it, along with the ‘guarding’ sea snakes that live in crevices around the Tirta Pabersihan fountain. It is one of Bali’s top attractions and welcomes everyone, regardless of religion or caste.

The sunset at Tanah Lot is pretty legendary in Bali, and a good way to enjoy it is with a Tanah Lot sunset dinner or drinks.

There are a number of simple restaurants and warungs on the cliff terrace near the temple. Don’t expect a five-star dining experience at the Tanah Lot, but it is a great place to enjoy a cold Bintang or fresh fruit juice while watching the sunset.

Opening hours:

You can visit Pura Tanah Lot Temple from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM. But watch out for low tides!

Tips and Tricks!

Here are a few tips you should know before visiting Pura Tanah Lot Temple!

  • The panoramic sunset view of Tanah Lot Temple is beautiful. Try to keep this sight as your last destination of the day, but arrive well before sunset to avoid the crowds.
  • Pay attention to the warning signs, because the waves in this region are dangerous and the temple is closed to everyone at high tide.
  • Wear full-coverage clothing, such as denim overalls or a floor-length dress, as the locals here follow the dress code and cover their legs as a sign of respect.
