🇮🇩 Sipiso Piso-waterfall – Lake Toba, Indonesia

Hidden on the northern edge of the magnificent Lake Toba, Sipiso Piso Waterfall is one of North Sumatra’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Plunging an impressive 120 metres into a lush green gorge, the waterfall creates a spectacular scene that’s guaranteed to leave you speechless.

📍Getting There?

• From Berastagi. Around 45–60 minutes by car (35 km).

• From Medan. Approximately 2.5–3 hours by car.

• From Tongging. Just 10 minutes away.

• From Samosir Island. Take the ferry to the mainland before continuing by car towards the waterfall. Sipiso Piso is a popular stop when travelling between Lake Toba and Berastagi.

Hiring a private driver or renting a scooter or car is the easiest way to reach the waterfall, as public transport is limited.

🕘 Opening Hours: 

Open 24 hours. The best time to visit is between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, when the skies are usually clearest and the morning light beautifully illuminates both the waterfall and Lake Toba. Afternoon clouds and mist are common, especially during the rainy season.

• Wear sturdy shoes, the staircase is steep and can become slippery after rain.
• Bring enough water if you plan to hike to the bottom.
