Information:
The Gunung Kawi is an archaeological site in Bali. The temple is one of the most beautiful temples around Ubud. It is the oldest, largest and most revered site in Bali.
Located in a lush green valley along the steep banks of the Pakerisan River, the 11th-century Gunung Kawi consists of 10 candi or shrines carved into niches of a large rock face. Around the temples, the whole area is surrounded by beautiful rice fields.
The temple is a bit further away from the city centre. It is 18 km from the centre, but the journey there is well worth it!

Tips and Tricks!
Here are a few tips you should know before visiting the Gung Kawi Temple!
- The entrance fee is 50,000 IDR per person.
- To get to the Gunung Kawi, you have to go up and down quite a few steps. It’s a good walk, bring something to drink!
- It is a temple, so dress neatly and bring a sarong to cover bare parts, for example.
