The Book of Kells is one of Ireland’s most famous cultural treasures and a must-see in Dublin. This beautifully illustrated manuscript, dating from around 800 AD, is housed at Trinity College Dublin. 📍Getting There?
The Book of Kells Experience is located inside Trinity College Dublin, right in the city centre at College Green.
It’s easily walkable from Grafton Street, Temple Bar and O’Connell Street. Dublin’s buses and the Luas Green Line also make getting there simple.
Once inside Trinity College, follow the signs to the Old Library / Book of Kells Experience.

Tickets currently start from €26 for the full Book of Kells Experience, which takes around 90 minutes.
A last-minute ticket covering the Book of Kells and Old Library starts from €19.
For an even better experience, the Trinity Trails + Book of Kells combination starts from €39 and takes approximately two hours.

🧐 Tips & Tricks:
– Book online in advance: Entry is timed and popular time slots can sell out.
– No photos of the Book of Kells: Photography is not permitted in the Treasury, although photography is allowed in other parts of the Old Library. No flash or tripods.
– Look closely: Only two pages of the manuscript are displayed at a time, with the pages changed every 6–8 weeks.
– Consider the combo ticket: Adding the Trinity Trails walking tour is a great way to discover the historic university campus before visiting the Book of Kells.
– Allow 1.5–2 hours: This gives you enough time for the exhibition, Old Library, Long Room and digital experience.
