Murinsel, Graz
Planning to visit the Murinsel? Check out our information below!
Information:
The River Mur divides the city of Graz in two, in the middle of the river, Graz has added a very special landmark since 2003: the Murinsel. This extraordinary artificial floating island is a symbolic connection between Graz’s old and new city centre. It looks very much like a giant half-open shell and was designed by New York artist Vito Acconci.
You can reach the impressive steel structure via a footbridge. Besides being a symbolic link between the old and ‘new’ city, this is a nice place to have a drink under the imposing glass dome with views of the Mur on both sides. The Murinsel is a nice link between the Schlossberg and the modern Kunsthaus.
Opening hours:
The Murinsel is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10:00 AM to 08:00 PM. On Mondays, the Murinsel is unfortunately closed.
