The Hofburg, located in the centre of Vienna is a collection of beautifully historic buildings, museums, a library and the famous Spanish Riding School. It used to be the custom that every time a new emperor (empress) was appointed, the Hofburg, the palace complex of the Habsburgs, was remodelled or extended. When you walk by the Hofburg, it immediately takes you back to the days of the Habsburg nobility, who lived there from the 13th century until just after the First World War. The palace has been remodelled, rebuilt and built on over different periods of centuries, the palace is a mix of styles.

Today, the office of the Austrian president sits at the Hofburg. You can still visit several museums in the palace, such as the Kaiserliche Schatzkammer and the Sissi Museum. In another part of Hofburg, you can visit the riding hall with the horses of the Spanish Riding School. The horses of Vienna’s famous Spanish Riding School receive training in the Hofburg Palace during the day. Among other things, they learn to dance to classical music. Fun to watch!
