Barcelona’s largest fresh food market, La Boquerรญa (Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria), is definitely not to be missed when visiting the beautiful city. It is not only Spain’s largest indoor market, but also Europe’s.
This covered market can be found halfway along Las Ramblas near the metro stop ‘Liceu’. Visited by locals and tourists alike, the market has a good friendly atmosphere. Here, indulge your taste, eyes and smell with all those goodies, buy and taste fruit, nuts, chocolate and delicious fresh fish straight from the Mediterranean.
Slightly less touristy markets in Barcelona are: the Mercat de Santa Catarina or the Mercat de Sant Antoni. ย ย
Opening hours:
La Boqueria is open all year round from Monday to Saturday from: 08:00 AM to 08:30 PM. On Sundays, the market is unfortunately closed.

Tips and Tricks!
Here are a few tips worth knowing before you visit Park Gรผell!
- Prices are very high but it is definitely worth a look.
- If you do want to buy some goodies at the Mercat de la Boqueria, do not do so right at the entrance, further towards the middle of the market the products become cheaper more often.
- You can also enter through Palau de la Virreina on the side, which is just a bit quieter than the entrance on Las Ramblas.
