Notre Dame Saigon

Notre Dame Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City

Are you planning to visit the Notre Dame Saigon? See our information below!

The famous Notre Dame Cathedral or Saigon, built between 1863 and 1880 by French settlers, is one of Ho Chi Minh City’s architectural wonders. Apart from being one of Ho Chi Minh City’s most important attractions, the Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral still serves as a religious institution for locals. The 2 towers, 58 metres high, tower high above the streetscape.

Saigon was also called the Paris of the East at the time, but unfortunately many of the old French buildings were lost in the war. The cathedral does not compare to the one in Paris, although it is just as impressive. Other remnants of the French period include the adjacent post office and the town hall: both a beautiful example of colonial architecture.
