Hanoi’s Old Quarter

Old Quarter, Hanoi

Are you planning to visit the Old Quarter? See our information below!

Information:

Hanoi’s Old Quarter is the most famous sight in Hanoi. If you visit Hanoi, you cannot miss this fascinating part of town. The old part of the city is full of charming colonial architecture, Buddhist temples and pagodas. The old centre was always behind huge walls and heavy wooden gates until well into the 19th century. But apart from a gate on the eastern side of Hang Chieu, the walls have disappeared from the ancient city altogether. You’ll find the district near Hoan Kiem Lake. Exploring this area on foot is one of the best things to do in Hanoi.

The Old Quarter is a hectic place, endless traffic of scooters, motorbikes and bicycles, traders selling fruit and souvenirs and narrow shops serving delicious Vietnamese food. Highly recommended!
