The Christ Church Melaka, is one of the most recognisable landmarks of this breathtaking Malaysian city. The church stands in Dutch Square, the centre of Dutch power during their rule in the city.
Christ Church Melaka is the oldest functioning Protestant church in Malaysia. Construction began in 1741 but was not completed until 1753. Before it was built, the Dutch living in the city used the old church at the top of St Paul’s Hill.
Like most Dutch Square buildings, Christ Church was built to Dutch standards. It has high, massive walls and columns, a rectangular plan, Dutch roof tiles and granite plinths, all features of 18th-century Dutch colonial architecture. The floors are covered with granite blocks and the walls are made of Dutch bricks.

Christ Church Melaka is open Monday to Saturday from 08:30 AM to 05:00 PM.
