The port of Essaouira

The port of Essaouira

Planning to visit Essaouira port? Check out our information below!

Just outside the city walls of the medina is Essaouira’s port. Essaouira was once Morocco’s most important port, being at the terminus of caravans from Timbuktu. There are some large boats in the port, but mostly many small blue boats that are iconic for Essaouira. It is fun to walk through the port and watch the fishermen take apart their nets. Some are sold directly in the port, while the rest go to the fish market in the medina.

You can’t leave Essaouira without visiting the port!
