The port of Essaouira
Are you planning to visit the port of Essaouira? See our information below!
Just outside the city walls of the medina is the port of Essaouira. Essaouira was once the most important port of Morocco, because it was at the end point of the caravans from Timbuktu. There are a number of large boats in the harbor, but especially many small blue boats that are iconic for Essaouira. It is nice to walk through the harbor and see how the fishermen take apart their nets. Part is sold directly in the port, the rest goes to the fish market in the medina.
You can’t leave Essaouira without visiting the port!
The port of Essaouira is open every hour every day, but come at the end of the day, then there is most to see and experience here.
