Are you planning to visit the Petaling Street Market? See our information below!
Petaling Street Market is an indoor market in the China Town area of Kuala Lumpur, near other attractions such as KL Central Market and Sri Mahamariamman Temple.
Today it is called Chinatown because of the original commercial heart of old Kuala Lumpur. The area surrounds the Petaling Street market. Most of Petaling Street market is pedestrianized and covered to keep out the sun and rain. Since 2003, Petaling Street has developed into a colorful tourist-oriented shopping area, with shops and stalls mainly selling clothes, bags, watches and souvenirs.
The sellers are professionals and consider the foreign tourist as a walking ATM and will try to get the maximum price out of you. They will make judgments about what they can get away with based on your appearance, age, nationality, the clothes you wear, any jewelry you have, and the phone you carry. If you look like a wealthy westerner, they will adjust their opening price upwards accordingly.

The Petaling Street Market is open every day from about 09:00 AM to 09:30 PM, although some market stalls don’t seem to open until after 05:00 PM and some food stalls stay open well past midnight.
