The Central Market in Kuala Lumpur is highly recommended, it is an old building, but very colorful and fascinating. The Market should certainly not be missed during your visit to Kuala Lumpur. The Central Market was once a wet market (selling fresh fish, meat and other perishable foods) built in 1888, but today it has grown into a fascinating destination for tourists, locals, shoppers and art lovers. In addition to the souvenir shops, there is also a food court on the second floor and Kopitiam (coffee shop) on the ground floor. The Central Market has since been classified as a heritage site by the Malaysian Heritage Society and is now a landmark for Malaysian culture and heritage.
The Central Market in Kuala Lumpur is located close to Petaling Street, Masjid Jamek and Chinatown. You can easily combine these sights on foot.
