Bahia Palace

Are you planning to visit the Bahia Palace? See our information below!

The Bahia Palace is one of the best attractions in Marrakech. It’s a fantastic place, and here it’s easy to imagine what life was like two centuries ago. You will witness the luxury of Moroccan architecture, with its brilliant appearances. Elegant rooms open into beautiful courtyards or gardens, which have multiple doors leading to narrow passages leading to private areas. In total, the palace complex is about eight hectares in size and has about 150 rooms. Only a certain part of it is open to the public, but it’s enough to see some of the best examples of art and interior design.

The Arabic word ‘bahia’ means ‘beautiful’ or ‘splendor’. That’s why it’s called Bahia Palace. That is more than appropriate here.

Opening hours:

The Bahia Palace is open all week from 09:00 AM to 04:30 PM. Except on Friday, when you’re in luck! On Friday, the palace is open from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM.

Tips and Tricks!

Here are a few tips worth knowing before you visit the Bahia Palace!

  • Try to get in as early in the morning as possible. Around 09:00 AM or 10:00 AM to avoid the huge tourist crowds later in the day.
  • Guided tours are available in the palace. Get a guide to tell you about the exciting stories that aren’t on the little notices on each section.
  • When you arrive at the back of the palace, some locals will tell you that it is closed today. They are meant to show you other areas nearby. This is clearly not true. Keep following the walls of the palace and you will find the entrance.
