Switzerland is a landlocked country on the border of western, central and southern Europe. It borders Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east. Switzerland is a country without an official capital, but Bern is considered a federal city in practice. The country’s largest city is Zurich. The official Swiss language is German, but French, Italian, Romance and English are also well spoken throughout the country. The best-known cities are: Bern, Geneva, Basel and Zurich.
